Biography - About Tyra L. Humphrey, LCSW
I am a licensed clinical social worker with more than 20 years of experience in the field of mental health. I have a passion for working with people to improve their lives through the therapeutic process of seeking peace and healing.
I am a native Floridian who has lived in Saint Petersburg since 1992 when I moved to the Tampa Bay area to attend Eckerd College. I have been employed by Boley Centers, the Pinellas County Schools System, and the Bay Pines Veterans Affairs.
I obtained my master’s degree in social work from the University of South Florida in 2005, and I have been a licensed practitioner since 2010. I have primarily worked with adults and teens, and I have experience treating a wide range of mental health issues, from common adjustment problems to severe psychosis.
My role as a therapist is to collaboratively identify your goals and work toward developing the skills and motivation you need to reach them. Seeking the support you need to address barriers that have impeded your ability to reach those goals alone shows strength and a desire to move your life forward. I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Brief Solution Therapy to guide clients on a journey of healing and hope, but all treatment is individualized to client needs.
